Shalini & Nikhil

Happy Anniversary, Shalini & Nikhil!  Has is really been 5 years!?

We arrived a few days before the ceremony to join in on the henna mehendi fun.  It was amazing to watch the mehendi artist at work.  She was incredible.  Shalini told us that part of the reason for such beautiful and intricate designs on the bride’s hands and feet is so that she must be waited on so as not to damage the designs.  Her mom and sisters also had mehendi designs on their hands.  Nikhil stopped by to make sure they weren’t getting into too much trouble.  🙂

Getting ready was an event unto itself.  But you’ll see that it was worth it in the final results.

There were so many fantastic colors!  No little black dresses allowed.  🙂

Here is a bit of an overview of how many people it takes to perform a traditional Indian ceremony.  It was so much fun to watch both families participate so fully.

Midway through the ceremony, Nikhil’s family presented Shalini with a new sari.  We had a cocktail break while she changed.  I love this red sari.  It just looked so fantastic on Shal!

This is one of my favorite pictures of the two of them.  The ballroom at the Renaissance Dallas Hotel was packed, but Shalini & Nikhil were able to catch a quiet moment in the chaos.

Me and the bride.

Oh, you noticed she has on a totally different outfit.  That makes lucky number 3!  My kind of event!

After party?!  The actual party was such a blast!  But this was a fun crowd and 2 a.m. was barely late for them.
