As a someone who watches people get married for a living, I think this is horrific! Why would we want to force people to get divorced?! I have heard the arguments about allowing gay couples to adopt (fears that they will “turn their kids gay” which has been debunked in many studies as well as a concern for the “instability” of the home life), and this is just stupid. If we want to give kids a stable home life, let their parents get married. And WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO LEAVE CHILDREN IN THE FOSTER SYSTEM WITH THE UPHEAVAL THAT PRODUCES WHEN THERE ARE PERFECTLY GOOD COUPLES WANTING TO ADOPT THEM?!?! Sorry for the yell, but it just kills me! Why do we insist on living in the dark ages. Gay people exist and they are just as nice and stable as straight people. Our kids and grandkids are going to really wonder at our sanity one day.

  1. your thoughts are your pleasure. may be true at some time to come . but one must accept the reality that the nature is created by the combination of negative- positive/north n south pole attraction and so many other such similar activities on earth.
Gay argument is done just coz crowd has gathered around. otherwise it is just unnatural and unacceptable to the world in general.

  2. rnsriv, could you please clarify? I’m not sure I understand your comment.

The above article was presented to me as an argument that people are pushing the “gay agenda” on a variety of people who disagree with gay marriage due to religious beliefs. I can see where some people would feel this is a sticky issue, however, I would like to suggest we replace each gay couple with a bi-racial couple and look at how we would feel about the situation then. We have already had this argument in a different context with a different group fighting for equality, but it is the same argument. It was called the Civil Rights Movement and now you cannot refuse service to someone because of the color of their skin. As a white woman, perhaps some people will think that is an unfair comparison, so lets put it into a context that includes me. Women had to fight to gain the same rights as men and in many places are still fighting for those rights. There are many passages in the bible that have been used to suggest I am not equal to men and should always be subservient. Lucky for me, I live in a place where I cannot be refused service or excluded from a group based on my gender. And I’m tired of the whole “the bible defines marriage as between a man and a woman” argument. Do we not allow marriage for Hindi, Buddhist, Jewish, Muslim, Jane, Wiccan, Agnostic, Atheist, and other couples not covered under the bible? You can’t take a word that is used beyond one specific religious belief and claim only certain religions are allowed to define it.

To those who refuse to photograph or otherwise participate in gay weddings, you don’t have to participate. When you receive a request, simply tell the couple you are “unavailable” to photograph or otherwise participate in their wedding and then refer them to those of us who would love to. If you are unwilling to work with gay couples, find a few vendors who are and refer us. You don’t have to make it an issue. I’m sure that photographer in the article thought they were being perfectly friendly, and they even added “have a nice day!” They didn’t need to make it a “gay marriage” issue, and that was what got them in trouble. If you are never available to photograph a gay wedding, gay couples will refer the vendors who did work with them and you won’t get nearly as many calls. Eventually you may not get any and you won’t have to worry about it.
