Back in the ATL
Back in the ATL
Current mood: tired
So, the big move was yesterday and everything went well. Packing the 26 ft truck too forever! In fact, we didn’t leave Atlanta until 5 p.m. So, we got to Knoxville a bit later than anticipated, but unloading was a snap. Thanks to Delaine for helping us on the ATL side and to Larry and Michael for the Knoxvegas help. Those are some rockin’ people!
Anyway, when we arrived at the house there was no water, so that had to be straigtened out today. Turns out we have a slow leak in one of our toilets and the water people turned on the water, let it run for 30 gallons and when it kept going turned it off. Which is cool. Thanks for not flooding the house. But a note of some sort would have been great! So we got that figured out and now our house has all major utilities. Next we need cable/internet!
Last night we slept on the futon mattress on the livingroom floor. The house sleeps great! It was so quiet. And in the morning the only sounds were birds chirping. No traffic hum or anything! And last night we could see stars from our front porch. I know this may not seem amazing to a lot of people, but these things are unheard of in Atlanta. So we’re super excited about the house. Nate is going up in the next few days with more stuff. I’m stuck here working and doing taxes until the end of the month, and then I’m staying with friends and fam in town for the first week and a half of April. Sigh. I’m ready to live in our new house. The old one is lame.
Did I mention that I drove the truck? Oh yes. I was sitting as high as the big semis (although my trailer was smaller). I don’t know what they were thinking. I wasn’t trained for that. I said “give me the biggest truck you’ve got.” They said “here you go, have fun!” But it was a nice truck and even had cruise control (and a governor set to 70), so I was cruisin’ on top of the world! It was funny. Too bad we were too tired to take a photo!
